If there is going to be any authority on the web, it's important to know the author. I am Alexander Coxe Pearson, native born Philadelphian, father of two, husband of one. I am a technology person now, building and maintaining the school's data and network systems. I graduated from Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia, PA in 1978 and from Harvard in 1982, taught at The Hotchkiss School in Connecticut for four years, and got a Masters degree in Classics from Bryn Mawr College in 1989. This site is the product of a one semester sabbatical from The Episcopal Academy, begun in January of 2010.
How I went from teaching Latin and Greek to keeping a network running is a bit of a mystery, but it has been the path of many classicists. And it has been satisfactory. Here I am on top of Sargent Mountain, Mount Desert Island, Maine. The body of water directly behind me is Somes Sound.
